Pregnancy
Pregnancy is full of surprises and change, and many women experience difficulties in pregnancy such as morning sickness, headaches, pelvic pain, anxiety, insomnia or digestive disharmonious. If you are struggling during your pregnancy, acupuncture, as a gentle, holistic therapy, and in some cases, Chinese herbs, may be helpful for you.
Michaela will help guide you through this process, and is always willing to work closely and cohesively with midwives, obstetricians, GPs and other supporting practitioners to provide a transparent and complementary treatment program throughout your pregnancy.
Birth Preparation
An ‘acupuncture induction’ is a commonly referred to process, but unfortunately there is no natural ‘on switch’ for labour. Michaela recommends beginning birth preparation acupuncture treatments from 36 weeks (midwives often also recommend this), designed to release muscle tension around the pelvic region, bring your body into readiness for when labour begins, and calm any pre-labour anxieties you may have.
If you are booked in for a C-Section, acupuncture from a supportive therapist may also be beneficial in calming pre-surgery nerves, and in preparing the body for this different, but no less powerful, type of birth.
